Finally we have a blog here at 3rdborn, So the pressure is on to keep it fresh and up to date. For those of you who don’t know the 3rdborn story, I launched 3rdborn back in 97 with a few button up shirts.  I was purely designing shirts for my own wardrobe from funky sarongs found in fabric shops in Bali Indonesia. After numerous requests from friends and total strangers to purchase my shirts , I decided to try and sell a few from a mates shop. The shirts sold ok but was far from a big success. At the time I had designed for Quiksilver for 7 years  so I did not take my shirt business too serious. It was not till 2 years later as I was finding my day job frustrating with the lack of creativity in the Surf Industry. I decided to trademark the brand name 3rdborn and started preparing for a relaunch. In january 2000 3rdborn t shirts were introduced to the thriving fashion market in Bali with a total of 200 garments. Sales were overwhelming from day 1 and our second, third and fourth production runs would follow as soon as we could produce the garments.

Our initial office was a 3×3 meter room we rented in the back blocks of Kuta with 1 computer and  shelves for the stock. We soon had export orders from the UK and Australia but focused our energy predominately on the Bali Tourist market. After the shocking terroist attacks in Bali 2002 I packed a green suite case and headed for the streets of Melbourne. Walking from door to door was a new and very daunting experience for me. I was not familiarly with sales and was find the regular knock backs depressing. I had all but given up, when I had one more contact handed to me from a friend. I opened my green suite case and through my garments on the table with a very unsales like motion. The buyers flicked through the goods, and after a few minutes announced they would send me and order for 9 Mooks stores with in days. Weeks later I delivered the order and from that moment I was delivery orders to Levis Stores, Mone11 stores, Edge stores, Live Stores and dozens of independent boutiques. 

2004 we tackled the big apple NYC, once again some hard work, but eventually things started to happen. Eventually we were suppling over 100 stores throughout the USA.

2006  We launched our first 3rdborn store here in beautiful Semiyak Bali. 12 months later we opened our second store in down town Kuta Bali.

2007 Japan jump onboard and off we went again. Currently we are suppling over a dozen of Tokyo’s hottest T shirt destinations

Our office has grown over the years and moving 4 times in total.  Now located in Canggu Bali ,not so far from my home in the rice fields and not so far from one of the most rip-able surf locations in Bali
